Seasoned Greetings!

I have been remiss in writing blogums during the past five months during which Jill and I have been immersed in our teaching schedule as well as work on our farm… and I have also been involved with writing an ongoing series of essays that are regularly posted under Shaman Wisdom. The current series is focused upon the New Mysteries. Read more

Rain-Making And The 'New Mysteries' Reemerging In Our Times

Last weekend, at a two hour mini-workshop with a small group in Kona focused on ancestors, we happened to mention the previous event where the group had been successful in encouraging the rain. The islands are still in an exceptional drought, and as we discussed the problem, we brought up that success story and lo and behold, it began to sprinkle. The sprinkles turned into a soaker that evening so I think we’re on to something.Read more

On The Trail

Topics:

Jill and I are currently on the trail teaching workshops on the US mainland—a Visionseeker level 2 in Sonoma, California two weeks ago, followed by a book signing for 80 people in Portland, Oregon at the New Renaissance Book Shop, followed by a Visionseeker level 1 workshop at Breitenbush Hot Springs Resort and Conference Center last week among the great trees in the Oregon mountains where we had snow as well as contact with those gentle mountain spirits who reside there.

It's at places like this that we discover with absolute certainty that magic is real.Read more

Rain - Making

On Saturday afternoon, March 6, 2010, I scheduled a book signing followed by a mini-workshop at a local bookstore called Kona Stories here in Kainaliu (in south Kona.) This event occurred in response to the release of my new literary endeavor—Awakening to the Spirit World—co-authored with my old friend and shamanic colleague Sandra Ingerman. Read more

Millennials, the "Generation Next"

For you scholars and fans of scholars.... The term "Millennials", like "Generation Next", is in reference to people born in 1981 and beyond. The Millennials are of age now to discover their trends of behavior, attitudes and beliefs, especially about religion. They are discussed in a Feb. 20, 2010 NYT Op-Ed by Charles M. Blow, entitled "Spirit Quest". The original study and report comes from the Pew Forum. Links are posted below.Read more

When Elders Meet - In Rain or Shine

As I gather my thoughts this bright tropical morning, allow me to share that it has been very dry here in South Kona this year due to an El Nino climatic event warming the ocean… the same event that is slamming the mainland with torrential rains in the West and massive snowfalls in the Midwest and East.

And here on Hawai’i Island?? We are all hoping that the Hawaiian healing god Lono—the keeper of the winds and the bringer of the rains (and the god of agriculture)—will step forward and bless this island with moisture. Read more
